Lot 276: A Chinese Celadon-Glazed Lidded Jar.
A Chinese Celadon-Glazed Lidded Jar.
A Chinese porcelain jar of rounded, bulbous form, rising from a short foot to a gently everted rim, surmounted by a domed cover. The lid is fitted with a small knop finial and a softly undulating rim that sits neatly over the mouth of the vessel.
The exterior is covered in a smooth celadon glaze of pale bluish-green tone, evenly applied across the body and cover, with a soft lustre. The interior and rim reveal a slightly warmer tone where the glaze thins, while the base shows an unglazed footring exposing the underlying ceramic body.
