A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain ‘Dragon and Waves’ Bowl.
A Chinese porcelain bowl of deep rounded form, rising from a short, unglazed foot to a slightly everted rim. The exterior is finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a dynamic scene of a striding dragon emerging amidst billowing clouds and crashing waves.
The dragon is depicted with a sinuous scaled body, flowing whiskers, and an open mouth, issuing a stream of water that cascades into stylised waves below. The surrounding cloud formations are rendered in dense, swirling clusters, creating a strong sense of movement across the surface.
The base is unglazed, revealing a neatly finished footrim.
