A Chinese Red-Ground Relief-Decorated Bowl with Turquoise Interior, Zhengde Mark.
A porcelain bowl of rounded form rising from a short foot, the exterior richly decorated in a deep iron-red glaze with moulded relief decoration of scrolling foliage and fruiting vines, creating a dense and continuous pattern around the body.
The interior is finished in a contrasting turquoise glaze with a fine crackled effect, bordered at the rim with a narrow gilt band. The combination of the vibrant red exterior and cool-toned interior creates a striking visual contrast.
The base is glazed in turquoise and bears a four-character mark within a square cartouche reading “Zhengde Nian Zhi” (正德年製), translating to “Made in the Zhengde period.”
