Lot 74: A Collection of Indian Bronze Figures Depicting Ganesha...
A Collection of Indian Bronze Figures Depicting Ganesha in Various Forms.
A group of four Indian bronze figures, each depicting the deity Ganesha in differing poses and styles. The tallest figure stands upright on a rectangular base, with four arms raised and the trunk descending centrally, wearing a tiered headdress and a short dhoti. Another figure is shown seated cross-legged upon a stepped plinth, holding a musical instrument across the body, with multiple arms extending outward.
A further figure is modelled in a dynamic dancing posture, one leg raised and bent, the body slightly arched, with multiple arms extended in expressive gestures. The fourth example is cast reclining on an oval base, with the figure resting on one side, supported by one arm.
