A Group of Four Polychrome Glass Gaming Pieces, Probably Syria, 13th Century or Later.
A group of four polychrome glass gaming pieces of domed mushroom form, each raised on a broad circular foot and surmounted by a rounded knop. The bodies are formed in opaque green glass and decorated throughout with applied circular eye motifs in tones of red, brown, black, and white, creating a lively and rhythmic surface pattern.
A horizontal band encircles each piece beneath the domed upper section, composed of layered trails in white, black, and reddish-brown glass. The repeated roundels are arranged across both the stem and base, giving the pieces a cohesive and highly decorative appearance.
The bases show central pontil marks and natural earthen encrustations consistent with age and burial. Minor surface wear and small losses are visible in places, contributing to the textured appearance of the glass.
H: Approximately 5.3cm
