An Islamic Rock Crystal Chess Rook and Bishop, 19th Century.
The rook of cylindrical form carved from translucent rock crystal, surmounted by a flattened knop and decorated with alternating bands of incised zigzag and circular motifs encircling the body. The bishop of tapering angular profile with a cleft crest, each face divided by a central ridge and engraved with oval and linear motifs.
