A Chinese Yellow-Ground Famille Rose ‘Dragon’ Teapot, Yongzheng Mark.
A finely modelled porcelain teapot of rounded globular form, fitted with a domed cover surmounted by a small knop finial. The body is supported on a short foot and set with a curved spout and a loop handle, both left in white glaze and delicately painted with floral scrolls.
The exterior is richly decorated on a vibrant yellow ground, finely crackled, and painted in famille rose enamels with sinuous green dragons in dynamic pursuit amongst scrolling clouds and flame motifs. The dragons are rendered with detailed scales and expressive features, their bodies coiling energetically across the surface.
The cover is similarly decorated with cloud motifs and stylised elements, echoing the design of the body and completing the composition harmoniously. The base is glazed in a turquoise tone and bears a neatly written four-character mark within a square.
