A Chinese Jade Carved Mask Plaque, 18th-19th Century.
The plaque is carved in pale celadon jade of softly translucent tone, formed in a stylised mask shape with gently lobed edges. The front is worked in low relief with a symmetrical composition of scrolling motifs, framing a central face with rounded eyes, a defined nose, and a straight mouth, all rendered in a highly stylised manner. The surface is polished smooth, with subtle natural inclusions and areas of cloudy translucency visible throughout the stone.
