A Large Tibetan Iron Ritual Phurba (Kila) with Wrathful Deities and Painted Lotus Base.
A striking Tibetan ritual phurba, cast in iron and surmounted by a tiered arrangement of wrathful deity heads. The upper section features a fierce face crowned by a flaming aureole, beneath which sits a second wrathful mask adorned with a skull garland and inset coloured cabochons.
The central shaft is formed with a faceted, tapering blade, decorated in relief with entwined serpentine motifs, terminating in a sharply defined triangular form. Suspended from either side are beaded strands incorporating turquoise and coral-coloured beads, from which hang patterned textile streamers.
The phurba is mounted on a carved and polychrome-painted lotus base, rendered in red, green, and ochre tones, providing a vivid contrast to the metallic body above.
