A Pair Of Framed Indian Folk Paintings Depicting A Multi-Armed Deity And Stylised Faces, 20th Century.
The lot comprises two vertically oriented paintings presented within simple wooden frames.
The first panel depicts a standing multi-armed deity adorned with elaborate jewellery and patterned garments. The figure is crowned with a radiating headdress composed of repeated serpent-like forms, and is shown standing above a smaller reclining figure beneath. The composition is filled with dense linear detailing and stylised motifs in earthy tones of red, brown, green, and black.
The second panel features a stacked arrangement of three circular faces, each enclosed within decorative borders of foliage and geometric patterns. The faces are rendered frontally with large almond-shaped eyes and simplified features, surrounded by repeating ornamental bands.
