Lot 294: A Chinese Crackle-Glazed ‘Flower-Rim’ Vase, Six-Character Seal Mark.
A Chinese Crackle-Glazed ‘Flower-Rim’ Vase, Six-Character Seal Mark.
A porcelain vase of globular form, rising from a neatly finished foot to a short, tapering neck and a distinctive flared rim formed into petal-like lobes. The body is covered throughout in a pale greyish celadon glaze, finely suffused with an even network of crackle (crazing), creating an intricate web-like pattern across the surface.
The crackle varies in tone, with darker lines accentuating the pattern and lending depth to the otherwise soft monochrome glaze. The glaze gathers slightly along the contours and edges, with subtle tonal variation visible around the shoulder and foot rim.
The rim is modelled in a stylised floral form, with gently rounded lobes that echo the organic quality of the crackled surface. The underside bears a neatly written underglaze blue six-character seal mark within a recessed base.
