Lot 293: A Chinese Celadon-Glazed ‘Dragon’ Moon Flask, Qianlong Mark.
A Chinese Celadon-Glazed ‘Dragon’ Moon Flask, Qianlong Mark.
A finely potted porcelain moon flask of flattened circular form, rising to a short neck and flanked by a pair of loop handles extending from the shoulder to the neck. The body is covered in a soft celadon glaze of pale green tone, evenly applied across the surface.
The exterior is richly decorated in relief with a large coiled dragon, its sinuous body emerging amidst stylised clouds and swirling motifs. The dragon’s features, including its scaled body, claws, and expressive head, are crisply moulded, standing out subtly beneath the translucent glaze.
The handles are smoothly formed, arching gracefully and integrating harmoniously with the overall silhouette. The glaze pools slightly within the recessed areas of the decoration, enhancing the depth and definition of the relief design.
The underside features an oval recessed base bearing a neatly rendered seal mark.
