A Chinese Doucai ‘Aquatic Creatures’ Gaiwan with Stand.
A porcelain covered bowl raised on a short foot, accompanied by a matching stand, the domed cover surmounted by a small cylindrical knop. The stand features a gently flared, lobed rim, complementing the rounded form of the bowl.
The exterior of the bowl and cover is decorated in doucai enamels with a lively aquatic scene, depicting various fish swimming amongst lotus plants, waterweeds, and flowing currents. The composition is rendered in a palette of underglaze blue outlines filled with overglaze enamels in green, iron-red, and yellow tones, creating a vibrant and dynamic effect. The decoration continues cohesively across the cover.
