A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Foliate-Rim Bowl, Guangxu Mark.
A finely potted porcelain bowl of shallow form with a gently flaring, foliate-shaped rim. The interior is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a central medallion enclosing a floral spray, surrounded by an arrangement of scrolling chrysanthemum blooms and leafy tendrils. The cavetto is further framed by double line borders and a continuous floral band beneath the rim.
The exterior continues the decoration with freely rendered flowering branches bearing blossoms and foliage, executed in a fluid and balanced composition. The base is neatly finished with a recessed foot and bears a six-character underglaze blue mark reading “Da Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi” (Made in the Guangxu period of the Great Qing).
