Lot 246: A Chinese Famille Rose ‘Dragon and Vase’ Dish,...
A Chinese Famille Rose ‘Dragon and Vase’ Dish, Qianlong Mark.
A finely enamelled porcelain dish of shallow, rounded form with a gently everted rim. The interior is richly decorated in famille rose enamels with a central red-ground medallion enclosing a striding green dragon amidst stylised cloud scrolls. This is framed by a vibrant yellow-ground field densely filled with scrolling floral motifs and a large baluster vase issuing foliage, flanked by two sinuous green dragons in pursuit.
The cavetto is bordered by a turquoise-ground band with stylised ruyi-head motifs, providing contrast to the vivid palette of pink, green, yellow, and iron-red enamels. The exterior is predominantly white, decorated with iron-red flame motifs spaced around the body.
The base bears a six-character seal mark in underglaze blue reading “Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi” (Made in the Qianlong period of the Great Qing Dynasty).
