A Chinese Jade Carving of a Recumbent Mythical Beast.
Carved from a pale celadon jade of soft, even tone, the figure is modelled as a recumbent mythical beast with its legs neatly tucked beneath the body and the head raised, mouth open in a stylised expression. The creature features rounded ears, a pronounced brow, and subtle incised detailing to the face, while the body is smoothly contoured with gentle definition to the haunches and limbs. The tail is curled along the rear, terminating in a rounded form.
