A Persian Miniature Painting of a Falconer with Hooded Hawk, 18th-19th Century.
Opaque gold pigments and ink on paper, depicting a standing courtly figure holding a hooded hawk perched on his gloved hand. The falconer is shown in profile, dressed in a long patterned robe secured with a sash, from which hang a dagger and ornamental accessories. His turban is rendered with layered folds and a feathered plume, adding movement and status to the composition.
The bird is carefully observed, with finely detailed plumage and articulated wings, tethered with delicate cords and tassels that echo the refinement of royal falconry scenes. The figure is set against a plain buff ground, framed by a ruled border with speckled pigment decoration, focusing attention on the elegance of the subject.
