Lot 124: A Tibetan Gilt Bronze and Wood Figure of...
A Tibetan Gilt Bronze and Wood Figure of a Ritual Horse.
A Tibetan figure depicting a stylised horse in a dynamic striding posture, mounted on a rectangular wooden base. The body is formed in wood with a warm brown surface, richly adorned with applied gilt metal fittings.
The head is finely modelled with an open mouth revealing teeth and a red-painted interior, the ears upright and alert. Gilt metal harness elements frame the face and neck, extending along the body in the form of straps and ornamental mounts.
The saddle area is recessed, suggesting use as a ritual or decorative element, and is embellished with additional gilt mounts, including mask-like motifs and pendant elements along the flanks. The legs are slender and extended in motion, terminating in gilt hooves, while the tail curves outward with carved detailing.
