An Indian Bronze Inkstand with Parrot Finials, 19th Century.
The bronze cast in a square, stepped form, with gently scalloped sides and a recessed central compartment. Each corner surmounted by small perched parrots, their bodies stylised with incised detailing to the wings and eyes, arranged facing inward around the rim.
The exterior panels decorated with engraved foliate motifs within arched reserves, repeated on each side, framed by simple linear borders. The interior divided into compartments, intended for use as an inkstand.
