An Early Dynastic Period Stone ‘Eye Idol’, Circa 3rd Millennium B.C..
Carved from a dense grey-brown stone, the idol is of stylised flattened form with a broad rectangular body rising to a double-lobed head. The prominent eyes are deeply incised and almond-shaped, each centred with a drilled aperture, with a further smaller pair of incised eyes rendered on the upper body below.
