A Large Chinese Famille Verte ‘Figural and Dragon’ Vase, Kangxi Mark.
A porcelain vase of baluster form with a cylindrical neck and everted rim, decorated in famille verte enamels with a continuous narrative scene.
The body is finely painted with dynamic figures engaged in a dramatic scene amidst crashing waves and swirling clouds, accompanied by a sinuous green dragon emerging from the water. The composition is enriched with finely detailed robes, expressive figures, and stylised landscape elements including rockwork and trees.
The shoulder is encircled by a decorative band of geometric and floral motifs, while the neck features a further figural scene depicting scholars and attendants within a landscape setting. The rim is bordered with a key-fret pattern in green.
The base bears a four-character underglaze blue mark reading “Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi” (大清康熙年製), translating to “Made in the Kangxi period of the Great Qing Dynasty.”
