An Indian Jain Cosmic Man (Lokapurusha) Tantric Textile, 20th Century.
A Jain tantric painting depicting a frontal standing deity figure rendered against a warm golden ground and framed within a deep red border. The figure is shown with a broad face, arched brows, elongated eyes, and circular cheek markings, accompanied by stylised earrings and a headdress of blue, green, and red tones extending outward into curling tendrils. The robe is composed of stepped, multicoloured chequered panels in shades of blue, pink, yellow, and green, arranged symmetrically and rising up the body. At the centre runs a vertical column of small painted compartments containing seated figures, symbolic emblems, and simplified motifs. A circular medallion at the waist features layered bands in soft yellows and reds. The arms curve outward with defined fingers, the sleeves decorated with patterned segments. The feet rest firmly on the lower border, above an inscription panel framed in red.
