An Indian Painting Of A Tantric Depiction Of Shiva With Attendant Figures And Serpents, 19th Century.
The composition centres on a seated blue-skinned figure of Shiva, shown cross-legged in a meditative posture, with a smaller figure emerging at the torso and a further seated figure depicted above the head within an arched form. Two attendant figures flank either side, each rendered in contrasting tones and posed in interaction with the central figure.
Serpents curve around the composition, framing the scene, while a trident appears alongside, reinforcing the identification of the central figure. The imagery reflects a Tantric interpretation, with the internalised figures and symbolic elements suggesting themes of inner energy and transformation.
