Muhammad Mukhtar Tawfiq al-Attar (Egypt, 1922–2006) – Reclining Nude of an Egyptian Woman, Oil on Canvas.
An evocative oil on canvas depicting a reclining female nude, attributed to Muhammad Mukhtar Tawfiq al-Attar, rendered in a warm, earthy palette with expressive brushwork. The composition presents the figure resting on draped fabric, accompanied by a bowl of fruit, set against a softly abstracted interior background. The surface shows visible craquelure and painterly texture, with a balanced interplay of light and shadow across the figure.
Signed in Arabic to the lower right, with date visible. The painting has been relined to museum standards and is housed in a gilt frame.
Muhammad Mukhtar Tawfiq al-Attar (1922–2006) was an Egyptian artist who later became a significant art critic after an eye condition curtailed his painting career at an early stage. Works by the artist are exceptionally scarce, with very limited known examples.
