A Tibetan Gilt Brass Figural Elephant Oil Lamp with Polychrome Detail.
A finely cast Tibetan figural oil lamp in the form of a stylised elephant, rendered in gilt-toned metal and set upon an integral scalloped base. The elephant is depicted with its trunk extended forward, supporting the upper section which forms the oil reservoir.
The body is decorated with engraved and textured detailing, including cross-hatched patterns across the torso and stylised ornamental motifs along the head and trunk. Traces of original polychrome decoration remain throughout, with red and green pigment highlighting the ears, saddle cloth, and rear drapery.
The upper section features a shaped opening with a metal loop and attached element, suggesting handling or suspension. The rear displays a vertical panel of green-painted decoration with scrolling motifs, providing contrast to the warm gilt surface.
