A Greek Silver Stater of Rhodes, Circa 300 BC.
A finely struck ancient Greek silver stater from the island of Rhodes, dating to approximately 300 BC. The obverse features a bold facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered with flowing hair radiating outward in stylised locks, his youthful features centrally composed with strong classical symmetry. The high relief of the portrait retains notable detail in the hair and facial contours.
The reverse displays the characteristic Rhodian rose in full bloom, its petals carefully articulated, accompanied by a bud and magistrate’s symbols, with Greek inscriptions encircling the design.
