Description
A Luristani Bronze Recumbent Stag Figure, circa 1st Millennium BCE.
A cast Luristani bronze figure depicting a recumbent stag, shown with elongated neck and stylised head turned slightly forward. The animal is modelled in a compact, resting posture with legs folded beneath the body. The head is characterised by a tubular muzzle, rounded eyes, and a prominent multi-pronged set of antlers fanning outward in a rhythmic, flame-like arrangement.
The body is rendered with simplified yet expressive contours, the musculature subtly indicated through smooth modelling. The legs terminate in broad, flattened hooves, providing stability to the figure. The surface displays natural encrustation and areas of mineral accretion consistent with age, contributing to the sculptural texture.
H: Approximately 12cm
