A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain ‘Dragon’ Bowl, Wanli Mark.
A finely potted porcelain bowl of rounded form, rising from a short straight foot to a gently flared rim. The exterior is decorated in underglaze blue with two sinuous five-clawed dragons striding amidst stylised clouds, their scaled bodies dynamically coiled and detailed with flowing manes and open jaws. The upper rim is encircled by double line borders, framing the animated scene below.
The interior is simply finished, centred with a medallion enclosing a single dragon amid cloud scrolls, echoing the exterior theme. The well and cavetto are otherwise left undecorated, enhancing the contrast with the vivid cobalt design.
The base bears a six-character underglaze blue mark reading “Da Ming Wanli Nian Zhi” (大明萬曆年製) within double circles.
