A Chinese Jade Carving of a Mythical Beast.
Carved in the round from a pale celadon jade with natural cloudy inclusions, the figure modelled as a recumbent mythical beast with an arched back, open mouth, and stylised features. The body is adorned with flowing, scroll-like motifs and raised curls along the limbs and spine, with pierced elements beneath the neck and body adding depth to the carving.
