A Pair of Chinese Bronze Foo Dog Guardian Lions, 19th Century.
A finely detailed pair of Chinese bronze Foo Dog guardian lions, each adorned with ornate curling manes, fierce open mouths, and elaborate collars suspending loose-hanging bells. One lion rests its paw upon a brocade ball, while the other secures a playful cub, symbolizing balance of protection and nurture. The figures are richly decorated with swirling motifs along the legs and back.
