An Islamic Painting Depicting Mecca And Medina With The Kaaba And The Prophet’s Mosque, Late 19th – Early 20th Century.
The composition is arranged in a structured, multi-panel format illustrating sacred sites associated with Mecca and Medina. The central sections prominently feature the Kaaba within the Masjid al-Haram, rendered with a cuboid form and surrounded by architectural elements, alongside a domed structure representing the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, distinguished by its prominent green dome.
Surrounding these principal scenes are numerous smaller panels filled with stylised depictions of mosques, minarets, arches, and shrine-like buildings, all arranged symmetrically to create a dense architectural field. The imagery is executed with fine linear detailing and a controlled palette of green, ochre, red, blue, and cream tones.
