An Islamic Calligraphic Composition Depicting Mecca And Medina Within Interlaced Script Panels, Ink And Watercolour With Gilt On Cloth, 19th Century.
A richly ornamented Islamic manuscript composition centred around intricate bands of Arabic calligraphy arranged in a symmetrical, interlacing design. At the heart of the composition are small medallions depicting the holy sites of Mecca and Medina, including the Kaaba and surrounding sacred architecture. These are encircled by concentric calligraphic bands in black, red, and blue inks, set against a gold ground that enhances the visual depth and rhythm of the piece. The outer border continues the dense calligraphic decoration, forming a cohesive and highly structured layout. Executed in ink and watercolour with gilt highlights on cloth.
