An Illuminated Islamic Sufi Calligraphic Panel with Gilt and Polychrome Floral Border, 20th Century.
The rectangular panel is composed on paper, featuring a central field of finely written Arabic calligraphy arranged in evenly spaced horizontal lines. The script is executed in black ink, with select words and phrases highlighted in red, drawing attention to key elements within the composition.
At the centre, a prominent cartouche in gold contains a larger calligraphic inscription, rendered with flowing, elegant strokes and standing out against the surrounding text. The gilding is bright and contrasts richly with the warm tone of the paper.
The panel is enclosed within an elaborate illuminated border composed of dense floral and vegetal motifs. These are painted in vivid blue, gold, and touches of red, forming a continuous decorative frame around the text. The border features symmetrical scrolling designs, stylised blossoms, and intricate detailing typical of manuscript illumination.
