Jamini Roy (1887–1972), Krishna with Cows, Watercolour on Paper.
A striking folk-inspired composition depicting the blue-skinned figure of Krishna playing the flute, flanked symmetrically by two stylised white cows. The figures are rendered in bold outlines with flat, vibrant areas of colour including red, green, blue, and yellow, set against a rich red ground. Decorative motifs and simplified forms reflect the artist’s distinctive style influenced by traditional Bengali pata painting. The composition is balanced and rhythmic, with repeated vertical elements and ornamental detailing throughout. Signed in the lower right, and presented within a mount and wooden frame.
