A Tibetan Gilt-Bronze Mounted Manuscript Case with Illustrated Leaves.
Of elongated rectangular form, the case is clad in dark metal richly worked with scrolling foliate decoration and bordered by rows of raised beading. The front is applied with three arched panels enclosing seated Buddhist figures in relief, each set upon lotus bases. The reverse displays a series of circular medallions, each containing stylised symbolic motifs arranged in a continuous row.
The case opens to reveal a collection of loose manuscript leaves, each inscribed in Tibetan script and centred with hand-painted figures of seated Buddhas in varied colours, all set within simple halos and lotus thrones.
