A Large Tibetan Bronze Ritual Phurba With Wrathful Deity And Zoomorphic Finial.
Of elongated tri-sided form, the bronze phurba is surmounted by a finely cast wrathful deity head with bulging eyes, pronounced brows, and bared fangs, flanked by circular ear ornaments and crowned with a series of small projecting elements. Above rises a stylised zoomorphic finial.
The handle is formed with openwork prongs and ribbed knopped sections, leading to a sharply tapering blade. The blade emerges from a zoomorphic head, with a sinuous serpent rendered in relief descending along the central ridge. The reverse continues the linear form with corresponding detailing.
